I love fall!

I love fall!! I love being able to open the windows and feel the chill in the air. Fall means fairs, football, pumpkins and sweet potatoes.

The NC State Fair will be in Raleigh next week. I'm not sure if we'll be heading up there or not. We are heading to West Johnston for Homecoming. We'll be making rice krispie footballs to take to the Wildcats. Jennifer and Matt made some for our nephew, Jacob's, birthday. They were very yummy!! Since I wasn't able to find anything I was looking for to make cupcakes (and be able to transport them safely), I decided to give this recipe a try. I only hope they turn out as yummy and as good as Jennifer's.

I love seeing pumpkins everywhere. Nothing means fall more than those bright orange pumpkins and mums sitting in yards and on front porches. There are some great pumpkin recipes out there to try including stew cooking in the pumpkin shell.

Then come the sweet potatoes. My sister-in-law, Colleen, let us know that the field behind her house had been picked. Meaning it's potato gleaning time. This afternoon Tom, the kids and I hit the field and were able to get some nice looking sweet potatoes. We'll be having baked sweet potatoes, sweet potato pie, biscuits, and of course sweet potato souffle. I make sweet potato souffle every Thanksgiving by request. I'll have fun checking out some new recipes to add to our favorites.
