I'm embarking on a new adventure. One of my goals this year is to participate in an organized bike ride. I'm not interested in going super fast. I'm interested in the exercise and accomplishing my goal.
I came across the Whirligig Festival ride info on the web and decided to set that as my goal. The ride is November 7 which I figure gives me plenty of time to build up endurance.
They offer a 20-mile, 40-mile and 100K loop. I'm striving for the 100K, but we'll see. I've ridden a regular one speed (or speed determined by me and me alone - no gears to change) Huffy bike for a couple of 10-mile rides in the past.
After this picture was taken I headed out on my first ride - 14 miles. The days that followed I rode 10 or 11 miles (took Thursday off). Then Saturday was my longest ride to date - 20 miles! It was fun and really got my energy going. After the ride I mowed two lawns and washed/cleaned two cars. I took Sunday and today off. Back to riding tomorrow morning if it's not raining- not sure how far. Tom may join me Saturday morning before heading out to Christian's baseball game. Maybe I can talk him into the 100K..........

Amanda,
ReplyDeleteYou're a brave soul to do that many miles.Ten miles sounds like alot to me. I admire the adventure in you. I don't think the bicycle seat would be big or soft enough for me. You go Girl!
